Cardiff Rubbish; Rhymney Street.

Rhymney Street, Cathays

A week or so ago, myself and my housemate decided to walk a different way for a bit of a change, and this is what we were faced with.

The whole street was covered in piles of rubbish; some of which had obviously been ravaged by animals over night, leaving the street littered with rotting food and empty packages.
Which in turn means your dodging and weaving between the filth just to get down the road.

The system of rubbish disposal on this street is honestly ridiculous. I obviously understand that having hundreds of bins everywhere, and the difficulty of storing them is a problem, but something needs to be done!

As someone who had never been down that road, or only occasionally used it as a short cut, the quantity of the rubbish is unreal, and the smell was overwhelming, for both residents and those visiting.

Lots of love as always,

Life Change.

It started when I got sent this picture of myself in December. I cannot describe how shocked I was at how much I let myself go, even if my friends assured me that its just the angle.

This spurred me to join a gym (which I had to wait until I came back to university to do) so it wasn’t until late January that I managed to. Before that I started to watch what I was eating but not strictly!

I have now found that my motivation is how competitive I get with myself, I always want to do better and be stronger. The only problem with that is I don’t want to rush and push myself to far and get hurt!

Also I find my motivation is seeing results! So far I have been going to the gym 2/3 times a week and doing a full work out, now along with sticking (trying to anyway) 1200 calories a day and attempting to keep protein up. I have only really been strict to that for a week and a half, and already I have lost 8 pounds!

I have a goal and I will reach it. It will just take time and dedication - hopefully this is the year!

The Host Film Review.

Yesterday I spent a lovely evening at my boyfriend’s house, having a film night.

One of the films we watched was 'The Host'. I had never heard of it before, nor had I watched the trailer for it. So From the name I deduced it was a going to be a scary, gory, futuristic, horror type film, all about how Earth is going to get taken over and people having to fight to survive the parasitic aliens.

So after a dramatic start with a chase and a suicide, I soon started to realize... This is a chick flick... a chick flick about parasitic aliens, taking over humans, and them, then, producing symptoms of schizophrenia by talking to the voice (the mind of the human) in their head...

I was in shock as it was dawning on me. I felt so mislead, and a little disappointed. That said I did not dislike the film at all as far as chick flicks go; it was a interesting and definitely unexpected twist upon the first realisation. I just wished it was a bit more about the struggle between the human and aliens, rather than the relationships between specific people.

As you may have guessed I am not a big fan of chick flicks, but If you are it's a very interesting take on the blossoming of love between unlikely people (Using the word people loosely!).

Without giving to much away, it all ends up with a happy ending, lots of love and peace.

I would give this film a solid...

3 out of 5!

It's worth a look, even if it's not what it first seems!

Lots of love,

x
